NATIONAL NORTH AMERICA FLOWERS June 27, 2009

In this continent we are going to considerate only three countries. Therefore Bermuda, Greenland’s and San Pedro y Miguelon  are part of north America but they are dependents countries.

The national flower is maple flower.

Maples are trees growing ten to forty five meters in height. The leaves are palmate veined and lobed, with three to nine veins, one of which is central. Flowers are regular with 4 or 5 sepals and 4 or 5 petals. Maple flower in late winter or early spring.

The flowers are green,yellow,orange or red. Is an ornamental tree fast growing and cold resistant.

Mexico national flower is the  dalia.

There are at least 36 species .The Aztecs cultivated for food .Was an important root crop and medicinal plant. Its roots is valued for nutrition insulin stored inside them and for the antibiotic compounds in the skin of the tubers.

The Dahlia flower was a solar symbol in Montezuma´s days

Roses has been a symbol of luxury and sentiment .

They were first cultivated in China. Flowers experts recognize three main classes of cultivate roses.       

The first class or old roses, bloom once a year in early summer.
